  1. I am so sorry for you loss. We went through the same experience with my Father, and it does take all your strength. I am happy you were there for her. My Father didn’t want to die in a hospital, and he died at home, with all his family around him.

Daddy died in 1991, Mother followed 10 months later in 1992. I have thought of them every day since. They are always with me.

  2. You have prepared us for this gently. But I know when my father died, the moment however “expected” is still a surprise. But your love for her shines out, and on. My heart goes out to you. Diana

  3. My condolences to you, dear Jack. The only thing I can say now is: our parents live as long as we remember them. I still talk to my Mom (1993) and my Dad (2003). It is very important that you were there with her and for her. The pictures of her and your Dad say more than any words could say.
    Hugging you,
    Tatyana

  4. I am so moved by these photos, Jack. Please accept my condolences for your great loss. It is a hard thing to adjust to, the losing of a parent, even after thirty years.

    Frances

  5. Thank you to everyone for your messages of sympathy – here, on facebook and flickr, on Moosey’s and everywhere else! Jack

  6. My good Jack!!

I just discovered the news in my mail! I am SOOO sorry!!! She has been SOOO very lucky to have you!! And the more you are serene, the more she will be peaceful in her new reality!! She will always be close to you!

Sending ALL my love to you!

    Liza

  7. I’m sorry for your loss, Jack. I know how much you cared for both your parents and I’m sure she knew as well. Every time someone close to me has died has made me feel all the more sharply the value and the possibility of that day and all my remaining days. That has been some compensation for what is missed.

  8. Hi Jack,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother – my thoughts and prayers are with you.

You’d think it would get easier to deal with the loss of a parent as you get older, but it doesn’t…take your time to grieve, and don’t expect too much of yourself in these next few weeks.

    How is your dad doing?
