I live (he said modestly) in one of the most beautiful parts of a beautiful country. Too seldom I go hiking in the mountains, but this past weekend was such an opportunity: a three-day two-night hike took five of us along beautiful mountain streams and through impressive gorges, before a hectic climb over a mountain.

Krantzes reflect in a mountain stream near our second night-stop.

  1. Jack, I always worry that this sort of excursion is dangerous. Don’t you have leopards about? The occasional hyena? The odd lion? A wayward hippo or two? Not to mention the snakes? Do take care out there!

    • Mark, I would say the chance of being hit by passing traffic whilst walking the dog in SF is greater than any danger out here! 😉
